Hi there, welcome to our first blog post. The purpose of these will be to share updates and insights into the behind the scenes of running Motion. Hopefully throughout these there’ll be something you find interesting...
We’re Ella and Zeezy, and together we run Motion.
I’m Ella and I’m a qualified Chair-based Exercise instructor, passionate about uniting generations through exercise and social interaction for good health and wellbeing in later life. And I’m Zeezy, also a qualified Chair-based Exercise instructor, as well as having coaching qualifications in Strength & Conditioning and CrossFit. I am passionate and very interested in how we can all work together to support older adults to live a healthier and happier life.
Motion is a social enterprise that designs and delivers interactive, inclusive and tailored exercise programmes to care home residents, tackling social isolation and increasing physical activity. In the last 4 years we have delivered sessions to over 400 care home residents. In the next year we will be expanding our care home programme beyond Sheffield and piloting a new programme, delivering tailored programmes to older adults who are living at home. The overarching objective is to promote healthy ageing through positive lifestyle change.
Over the last few months we’ve been working away on a bunch of things - including:
- Reviewing and streamlining our operations to ensure that our Motioners (Motion participants) and care homes have the best experience possible.
- Continuing to deliver and assess the impact our programmes have on our Motioners.
- Further developing a robust impact measurement matrix, alongside healthcare professionals, social workers and fitness professionals.
- Developing partnerships with local organisations in the health and social care sector.
Thank you for reading our first blog post and joining us on this extremely exciting journey!
