Let me take you back about 4 years, to Summer 2018, when I delivered my first Motion session. I remember it like it was yesterday, it was a (rare) sunny Friday afternoon in Sheffield, Jess (who’s now a member of our Expert Advisory Board) and I took ourselves to a care home in Heeley.
Upon arriving we started to set up for the session, as the Motioners (participants) filtered into the lounge. I was excited and a little nervous, to be honest. As I took off my jumper, to reveal my Motion t-shirt, I happened to pull up the t-shirt too, at which point a Motioner yelled “Is he here to give us a strip-tease?!”; to the amusement of the other Motioners, staff and Jess!
The well-timed humour helped to settle any nerves I had and we soon cracked on with warm-up. It’s during the session that I noticed the second thing that has most stuck with until today and it’s the ability of the Motioners. I saw a room that was brought to life with their enthusiasm and movements that were performed with perfect form.
A lot has changed since Summer 2018. Motion has come a long way and I’ve had the pleasure of delivering hundreds of hours of Motion sessions. The one thing that’s remained the same is the infectiously positive attitude that every Motioner brings along to the sessions and that’s what makes it such an honour to continue on this exciting journey we’re all on.
