On Monday 11 April, Motion Exercise joined forces with a range of Enactus Sheffield social enterprises to celebrate the wonderful achievements made by this year’s teams at the annual Enactus UK National Expo in London.
It was a rewarding and joyful day for everyone involved as Enactus Sheffield were awarded as runners-up behind Enactus Nottingham in the annual competition.
It was the first time the Expo had been held in-person for three years and the Enactus team did a fantastic job of presenting what Motion Exercise and fellow enterprise Marine Moulders have achieved this year.
The Expo took place in London’s ExCeL convention centre with our very own Ella, Zeezy and Zeyana representing Motion Exercise at the event.
Of the day, Ella said: “Seeing Motion Exercise presented was a great highlight. It was a bit emotional.
“There were some amazing keynote speakers, for example ex-Enactus Sheffield member Aaron Probert talking about starting his own social enterprise supporting people who have experienced homelessness. Overall, it was a really inspiring day.”
The day was an opportunity for Enactus teams from across the country to come together and present some of the work they have carried out this year in front of 90 judges and students from numerous universities.
The teams delivered presentations each lasting twelve minutes before answering questions from the judges.
They were then ultimately judged on their presentations and the annual report they have produced this year.

The day started at 10.30am with Motion Exercise there from 9. Multiple awards were handed out over the course of the day to both advisers and members.
Enactus Sheffield were the first Enactus team to present their work and were awarded with their runners-up trophy in the afternoon.
A big group of Enactus Sheffield members came forward to collect the trophy while Ella, Zeezy and Zeyana cheered them on.

Of the crowning moment, Ella added: “It was really exciting. Of course, there was disappointment that we did not come first but everyone was so happy. There were tears and it was really nice to get a trophy.”
The day also marked a sentimental moment for Motion Exercise and its journey as a social enterprise.
Motion Exercise began under the wings of Enactus Sheffield over four years ago and this was the final time Motion Exercise will be seen as part of the student-led organisation.
The social enterprise is entering an exciting new chapter as a stand-alone social enterprise and everyone who has contributed to the team past-and-present deserves an enormous thank you.
None of the success Motion Exercise has achieved would have come without the incredible contributions of everyone involved over the course of the journey. Everyone has played an important role, no matter how big or small.
Ella said: “I am incredibly proud. There have been some amazing achievements. Looking back, I think the amount of people that have been helping and willing to support and make us grow has been amazing.
“Enactus is a hub for supporting and aiding innovation. We wouldn’t be where we are today without it.”
Motion Exercise is now looking to the future as it embarks on its new adventure.
The focus is on scaling up the care homes programme within Sheffield and in a couple of years, widening the reach across Yorkshire and eventually nationally.
The aim is to continue to form local partnerships which have been so essential to the enterprise’s growth up to now.
On Thursday 14 April, Motion Exercise also delivered its first community programme at the Goodwin Sports Centre which will be running as a pilot for 12 weeks aiming to bring people together in the community.
It is part of Motion Exercise’s plan to diversify its operations and offer programmes for people with a range of mobility levels.
The day in London was a fantastic way to celebrate the outstanding work Motion Exercise and all of the Enactus social enterprises have carried out this year, and for Ella, it has left her hungry for more.
“That is the great thing about a national competition. It reignites that fire within you to do more, carry on and push on. It definitely makes you excited for what is to come.”
Motion Exercise has made some big leaps forward in its time and yet there is so much more to come.
Once again, a huge thank you to Enactus UK for putting on such a fantastic and successful day.
